Gambia has a population of 1,824,158 with a life expectancy of  54.07 years. The population is 42% Mandinka, 18% Fula, 16% Wolof, 10% Jola, 9% Serahuli,  4% other, and 1% non-African. Gambia is 90% Muslim, 8% Christian, 2% indigenous. The literacy rate for males is 47.8% for females 32.8%.
