Nupe Kingdom

Nupe was a kingdom located south of the Hausa Kingdoms in the lower Niger. It was founded by Tsoede or Esigi, who unified the Nupe communities under one leadership, before 1400. Nupe was renowned for its craftsmanship in various materials. It later was conquered by Oyo and became a tribute paying state. She also became a vassal state of the Sokoto Caliphate.
