Wadi el-Hol Inscription an inscription discovered by Dr. John and Deborah Darnell at Wadi el-Hol(Gulch of Terror) which displays trait of the earliest forms of alphabetic writing. Wadi el-Hol has been dated from 1900 to 1800 BC during Egypt's Middle Kingdom. The inscription was found among numerous formal hieroglyphic inscription. The inscription consisted of symbols founded in Egyptian Hieroglyphs and what would be symbols from the earliest semitic alphabet(proto-sinaitic). The writing shows a transition to the first noted form of alphabetize writing. It was carved on limestone walls and seems to be semitic worker grafitti. Scholars currently don't understand fully the meaning of the inscription text.
